I know we've just started Lent but, my parish is using Lent to focus on reaching out to the community and in particular people we know individually. We're asked to choose one friend and pray for that person every day during our Lenten 40 days.
Now, saying that I had our Episcopal Singles staff member in Canada send a radio ad that never made the airwaves.
Mike McKenzie created the ad for fun. 41-year-old McKenzie is the creative services director for Cox Radio of Birmingham and a St. Andrew's parishioner.
The result is McKenzie's ad. He passed it on to church leadership and it started making the rounds. The ad has not aired on the radio yet, and while the debate continues about whether or not it will air, others are taking notice.
While it is very funny, I'm thinking that praying for my friends during Lent going to be more effective!
